12 Non-Alcoholic Christmas Drinks

Carrying on from a blog post I posted a couple of weeks ago, here are some festive non-alcoholic Christmas drinks that are fun and suitable for all the family! A few of them are also transferable for any time of the year, so make sure you try them all this holiday season!

Christmas punch:

2 cups (473ml) of orange juice

2 cups (473ml) cranberry juice

1 cup (236ml) pineapple juice

1 cup (236ml) ginger ale

Mix altogether in a punch bowl and serve!

 

Rudolph Punch: for a punch bowl

                              4 cups (946ml) of cranberry juice

1 litre of ginger ale

If just one serving, fill half a glass with cranberry juice, and then up to the rim with ginger ale

 

Non-alcoholic Shirley temple:  Serves 8

1oz (28ml) Grenadine (or use the juice from the maraschino cherries)

7up or sprite

Ice

Maraschino cherries for garnish

Fill your glass with ice. Pour into your glass 28ml of grenadine (1oz) and top off with 7up! Garnish with maraschino cherries. If making a bigger portion, use a guideline of about 1oz:8oz of grenadine juice to 7up.

 

White chocolate and peppermint mocktini: Serves one

                              3oz (85ml) white hot chocolate

2oz (57ml) peppermint mocha coffee creamer

White chocolate syrup

Crushed peppermints to garnish

Dip the rim of a chilled martini glass in white chocolate syrup, and then drip in crushed peppermint. Repeat with additional glasses. Add white hot chocolate and coffee cream to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, strain into glasses and serve immediately.

 

Strawberry Margarita mocktail:  serves 4

                              1lb strawberries

½ cup (118ml) of orange juice

½ cup (118ml) of sparkling water

¼ cup (59ml) lime juice

Ice

Coloured course sugar for the rim

Lime wheels to garnish

Put the strawberries, orange juice, sparkling water, lime juice and ice into your blender. Blend until it reaches a slushy-like consistency, add more ice if necessary. Cut a small slit into your lime wheels and rim with the juice, then dip the rim into a bowl full of the course sugar. Pour the mocktail into the glasses, add the lime wheel to the rim and serve!

 

German Kinderpunsch: serves 5

                              4 cups (1L) of grape juice

1/3 cup (80ml) of fresh orange juice

4 tbsp of honey

1 cinnamon stick

½ tsp of allspice

1 whole star anise

Cloves to taste

In a saucepan, combine grape juice, orange juice, the honey, cinnamon stick, allspice, cloves and star anise. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, and the turn off the heat and let steep for at least 20 minutes. Ladle into mugs and enjoy!

 

Maple apple cider: serves 6 

10-12 quartered granny smith apples

1 quartered pomegranate

1 quartered orange

1 cinnamon stick

2-6 tbsp of maple syrup, depending on taste

Add the apple, pomegranate, orange, cinnamon stick and maple syrup to your slow cooker. Immerse the ingredients with water (usually 5-6 cups or 1L) cover with a lid and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 4-5. Carefully strain through a mesh strainer, discard the fruit and cinnamon sticks. If desired, strain again to get rid of any pulp. Taste and adjust the maple syrup to your liking. Serve warm or cold!

Alternatively, combine everything in a saucepan and cook on medium heat for 3 hours, or until the apples begin to break down. Caramel apple Mocktail: serves 3 

1/3 cup of caramel sauce, warmed for rim

1/3 cup of demerara sugar for rim

1/4 cup of caramel sauce, warmed

7oz (190ml) apple cider, chilled

7oz (190ml) ginger beer, chilled

1 cinnamon stick

Dip the rims of the glasses in the caramel sauce, then dip into the sugar. Pour warm caramel sauce into the glass, then the apple cider, and then some ginger beer, stir until combined. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve immediately.

 

Frost bite mocktail: serves one

Ice

1oz (28ml) lime juice

1oz (28ml) pineapple juice

2oz (56ml) white grape juice

Fresh mint leaves

Fresh blueberries

2oz (56ml) sierra mist natural

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, lime juice and pineapple juice. Mix. Add the grape juice, mint and blueberries. Using the back of a spoon, crush a few of the blueberries. Shake all the ingredients well and train into a large glass filled with ice. Top with sierra mist natural and garnish with a few fresh blueberries!

 

Grinch hot chocolate: serves 2 

2 cups (473ml) of milk

4oz (113g) of chopped white chocolate

Green food colouring

1tsp of vanilla extract

1tbsp of peppermint extract

Whipped cream

Add milk and chopped white chocolate to a medium saucepan. Heat on low until the chocolate is melted and the milk is heated through. Remove from heat and add the green food colouring. Pour into mugs and add flavour of your choice (peppermint or vanilla). Top with whipped cream and green sprinkles and a red heart.

                             

Non-alcoholic Christmas Sangria: for a pitcher

4 cups (1L) cranberry juice

2 cups (500ml) of brewed black tea, cooled

750ml (3 cups) of sparkling red grape juice

1 sliced orange

1 cup of fresh cranberries ( or frozen!)

5 cinnamon sticks

Allspice

Ice

Start with a pitcher of ice. Pour in cranberry juice, the brewed black tea, and sparkling red grape juice, mix to combine. Add orange slices, cranberries, cinnamon sticks and some holiday spice. Stir again for a final mix.  Serve in glasses filled with ice, and garnish with orange, cranberries and a cinnamon stick!

 

Cotton candy mocktail: Serves 10 

2L bottle of raspberry ginger ale

1 bag of cotton candy

Maraschino cherries to garnish

Wet the rim of your champagne glasses (or whichever ones you prefer) with water and dip them into coloured sugar. Place a bit of cotton candy into each glass. Pour the ginger ale over the cotton candy. Place a cherry into the glass and serve!
